Infiniti is likely to ditch its quite old 3.7-liter V6 powerplant for something downsized and turbocharged, as is the trend nowadays. The unit set to replace it is expected to produce 400 or more horsepower and one of the cars it’s going to power is the production version of the Infiniti Q60.
The unit is reportedly going to be a 3.0-liter with two turbochargers and according to AutoGuide, it will be able to take more power. The Canadian source suggests that the 400 hp output will be that of the highest-powered regular model, while 450 or more horses could be extracted for a dedicated sporty version.
Said variant could be called Q60 IPL, which is Inifiniti’s sporty model moniker – it stands for Infiniti Performance Line and sounds just as silly as ever.
Expect the new Q60 coupe to debut in late 2016, with the performance model probably arriving later.
