For an Italian, it may seem absurd to go abroad in search of a beautiful vintage car, when one can choose from so many gorgeous Alfa Romeos, Fiats and Lancias, to name only the most affordable local brands.
But for Gianfranco Giovine, it was something he needed to do because the love of his life was the Jensen 541, a car that was built in just 226 units by UK-based Jensen Motors. Rarely seen outside of Britain, the Jensen 541 is a very exotic sight in Italy, especially since it’s a right-hand drive car.
But for Gianfranco it was a sacrifice worth making, as his 1954 Jensen 541 is not only a beautiful car, it is fast too. Powered by a 4.0-liter Austin straight-six engine producing 170hp, it reaches a top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h) – still a respectable value today.
Needless to say, Gianfranco says he will keep the car for as long as he lives. Scroll down to watch the beautiful story of his 1954 told by the owner himself in the latest video from Petrolicious.
