Alongside the refreshed 2016 Kia Rio 5-Door, the Korean automaker also unveiled the facelifted Rio Sedan at the Chicago Auto Show.
The makeover is similar, obviously, with the sedan getting discrete visual updates including new front and rear fascias, as well as a revised grille. Other enhancements consist of new fog light surrounds with satin-finish bezels, lower front and rear valances, plus two new exterior colors: Urban Blue and Digital Yellow.
Inside, the refreshed Rio Sedan gets upgraded UVO eServices technology and a more premium look and feel thanks to the satin-finished bezels around the air vents and a new piano black center console surround.
Kia also offers the optional EX Designer Package, which includes black cloth with gray leatherette trim and gray stitching, gray padded door panel inserts, gray stitching on steering wheel, center console armrest and shifter boot.
Going on sale in the United States in the first quarter of this year, the 2016 Rio Sedan is offered with the same engine as before, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 138hp at 6,300 rpm and 123lb-ft (187Nm) of torque at 4,850 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a standard six-speed manual transmission for the sedan (the 5-Door gets a standard six-speed automatic).
