As far as drag races go, this one has to be one of the best we’ve seen. It features two of the newest supercars on the market, with very similar specs.
Credit CAR Magazine for bringing these two cars together and pitting one against the other in a straight line – it’s actually the first time we get to see the Huracan and the 650S go at each other (at least in the dry).
You could argue that despite the Lambo’s all-wheel drive advantage, its 610 HP aren’t that impressive considering the fact that most of its rivals have a similar number of HP but weigh a little less. Of course, some, like the McLaren 650S have a clear power advantage.
On paper, the Huracan gets from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in 3.2 seconds while the 650S needs just 3.0 seconds. The McLaren also has more torque to play with, so right off the bat things it seems as though it should be the favorite to win.
The track conditions are optimal, which means both cars should get off the line as well as they can using launch control – which is exactly what happens. They get a perfect start and they’re side by side for the first couple of seconds. So none of that ‘poor start from a rolling start, or one tuned one stock’ nonsense we usually get during some of these drag races we come across.
We’re not going to spoil it further, so enjoy the show!
