You’d be forgiven to believe that Alfa’s new MiTo Racer with its puffy wheel arches, hunkered down stance and athletic styling has something wild under its hood, but you’d dissapointed.
What you’ll find there is the casual engine lineup from the regular MiTo starting from the 85PS (84hp) 1.3-liter JTDM diesel climbing to the 105PS 0.9-liter turbo TwinAir and 140PS (138hp) 1.4-liter Multiair petrols, 120PS (118hp) 1.6-liter JTDM diesel, and the 120PS (118hp) 1.4-liter GPL Turbo.
Available in European markets from the end of April, the Racer edition is a snazzy looking cosmetics package that draws inspiration from Alfa’s racing past.
There are seven available exterior colors to choose from, including a new white theme, with dark bronze 17-inch wheels and mirror caps, satin-chrome finish for the door-handles and the front and rear light frames, a rear sport bumper, spoiler and chromed exhaust pipe, plus a chequered roof scheme.
Alfa went with a vintage look for the interior that sports new grey textile seats with brown eco-leather on the sides and matching stitching that’s also found on the steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake. Another classic touch is the Alfa Romeo words and brown stitching on the floor mats, and the black Street dashboard.
The Mito Racer will have its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
