Land Rover is offering the Discovery Sport with a “Launch Edition” model in the United States, which gains exclusive design features.
Limited to 250 units, “Launch Edition” Discovery Sport vehicles will be available with styling features including Yulong White Metallic paint, Black Design Package and Ebony Grained Leather interior.
The Launch Edition is also equipped with bright finish tread plates, aluminum paddle shifters, brushed stainless steel sport pedals and, as a nod to the automaker’s British heritage, monochrome Union Jack valve caps. It will not be available again until model year 2016.
The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport Launch Edition has a MSRP of $48,975, excluding a $925 destination/handling charge. That’s a significant premium over the standard Discovery Sport, which starts from $37,070, also excluding destination.
The Discovery Sport is available in the United States with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 240hp and 250lb-ft (339Nm) of torque. Mated to a standard 9-speed automatic transmission and Haldex All-Wheel Drive, the unit allows the SUV to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h).
