A pattern is beginning to emerge in the comparative reviews between the Lexus RC-F and BMW’s M4 coupe. The BMW is always faster, but it seems reviewers have more to criticize about it than they do with the RC.
Yes, the M4 is faster and has oodles of torque, but its sound is digitally enhanced, its road manners are a bit more sideways-oriented and it looks nothing like as striking as the Lexus.
Speaking of, the RC has a much nicer engine note, is plenty powerful (even for a car this hefty) and it pulls its own weight even on the track where it was recently tested against its German archrival.
The conclusion of this review by Autocar is not at all surprising, and it seems that while it may be slightly slower than the M4, the RC-F has plenty of qualities to still make itself a relevant buy in the sector. The Japanese have made what seems to be a great driver’s coupe without actually making it faster than its main competitor yet people still like and get it.
