Fresh off a much needed facelift, the current-gen Citroen C4 makes its way into the UK with sales starting this April.

This, the second generation Citroen C4 was launched back in 2010, with over 450,000 vehicles coming out of the Mulhouse plant in France. And to be fair, we’re talking about a very spacious, economical and easy to drive C segment car.

However, since the first generation came along, Citroen hasn’t really been able to capture the imaginations of their customers as well with this newer model. It looks rather bleak. Almost too common. Where the old one had plenty of personality, especially in Coupe form.

Still, if you’re going to refresh the C4, might as well get on with it and give it some new chrome chevrons, new headlights, LEDs, better looking wheels, a few new colors and a more modern interior – available with a new 7″ touchscreen.

Citroen claims that the finest materials in the segment are found throughout the C4’s cabin, which we know not to be true.

Still, the car remains exceptionally economical thanks to its Euro 6 BlueHDi turbodiesel engines, with CO2 emissions as low as 86g/km, as well as its highly efficient PureTech 3 cylinder petrol engines which work similar to Ford’s 1.0 liter EcoBoost technology, using a high-performance turbo compressor.

The top of the range PureTech 130 S&S engine now comes with either a 6-speed manual or a new 6-speed automatic gearbox named EAT6. A C4 PureTech 130 S&S EAT6 will be available in Flair spec in time for launch with a MRRP OTR £19,445 price tag.

The facelifted Citroen C4 also comes with smart technologies such as Keyless entry & start, Intelligent Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Front fog lights with static cornering function and an ultrasonic Blind Spot Monitoring System.
