Ferrari’s first ever all-wheel drive car, the FF, is being prepared for a facelift as it reaches the mid-point of its life cycle. Presented in 2011, the updated FF should come under the spotlight next year.
The reason why you don’t see a lot of camouflage on this tester other than on the front bumper is because it’s an early development prototype, likely made to evaluate the FF’s updated V12 engine that is believed to get a power boost from the current 6.3-liter mill’s 660-horses to around 700hp.
An eight-speed twin-clutch transmission could replace the current model’s seven-speed gearbox setup to improve both performance and fuel emissions, while the FF’s four-wheel drive system should be revised to cope with the added power.
There’s also some talk going on about the possibility of the addition of an entry level V8 twin-turbo model using a modified version of the engine found in the California T and 488 GTB, but for now, it’s just a rumor, as none of this has been confirmed or even hinted at by the Italians.
The recently launched California T should give you an idea of the tech (including the infotainment system) and styling updates expected to be made on the FF.
