Meet one of two upcoming members of the new C-Class family, the C-Class Convertible that we spied during winter testing in Northern Sweden.
The other model is the C-Class Coupe upon which the Convertible is based sharing the same dimensions (sans height, of course), body and powertrains.
The design will evolve the look of the existing C-Class sedan and estate adding touches from the bigger and more luxurious S-Class Coupe with a folding fabric roof replacing the lid top, just like Audi’s competing A5 Cabriolet.
Inside, the interior and especially the dashboard will largely be carried over from the regular C-Class models, with the same applying to the powertrain range that will comprise turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel units and a 362hp V6 turbocharged petrol for the C450 AMG. All-wheel drive will be offered as an option on select models (probably standard on the C450 AMG).
A flagship C63 AMG model with the 476PS (470hp) 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 could be added to the range down the line to compete against BMW’s M4 Convertible.
