The midlife crisis is said to be a period in every person’s life when they acknowledge the inevitability of their own demise. Thus, the obvious natural response is to go and splash out on a fancy sports car to make themselves feel young again. However, men and women see this differently and have differing tastes and preferences when it comes to the vehicles they choose.
A recent study which questioned 1,005 adults from the US and put together by Ipsos Public Affairs for CarMax. Their findings are reasonably summed up in the info graphic posted below, although there’s probably a lot more nuance to it than that.
For instance, 25 percent of those who participated in the study said they were likely to buy a midlife crisis car, although that’s the average of 30 percent of the men and 21 percent of the women.
The most popular color is not flashy, passionate red, but sinister black, followed by silver and/or grey; 24 percent of men chose black, while 21 percent of women went for red.
It seems women aren’t into sports cars, though, and their idea of a midlife crisis car is an SUV (19 percent of them said so), while 24 percent of men chose the obvious.
