You can, if you want to, mount your turbocharger wherever you want on your car, as long as it’s fed exhaust gases and has somewhere to send its high-pressure air. This modified GM pickup takes that flexibility to the extreme, by having the turbo behind the cab, mounted to the bed!

Having the turbo close to the engine block and not having meters of piping in between should equate to low lag and snappier throttle response; this is the exact opposite, we assume, so it probably is quite laggy. This pickup’s setup also has the intercooler right next to it and a racing fuel cell further back (also bolted to the bed).

The engine under the hood is an LS1 V8, and to be fair, it doesn’t actually sound like it takes a minute to spool up (all is clearly audible since it’s all exposed), and for show factor, it’s not a bad way to attract attention – automotive engineers will hate it, though…

Had it had its turbo where it’s supposed to, though, the scene would have probably overlooked it, so from that standpoint, it succeeded in grabbing our attention.
