Making a song out of car parts or something else unconventional, isn’t what we’d call breaking news. But watching the process of how they go about recording the sounds is pretty cool.

The idea came from Infiniti Middle East and the song is called ‘Chromatic’. It features noises generated by elements such as brakes, tires spins, gear shifts, seatbelt clicks, exhaust notes and internal alerts and other types of voice messages.

Naturally, they went pretty deep in the Infiniti range and utilized the Q50 sedan, the QX60, QX70 as well as the QX80. They obviously needed to record a large variety of sounds, including different exhausts, and follow-up on them later on when choosing the best options for the track itself.

The man behind the music was global producer and composer Megadon Betamax who wanted to “craft a sound that framed the performance and power of these engines while building momentum and energy, musical crescendo and a foot-tapping tune. Most people that have heard the track so far don’t believe it’s entirely made from car sounds, and that’s what I wanted. I’m proud of this piece.”

Once the sound is processed digitally, you can pretty much do anything you want with it, so we’re not surprised at all ‘Chromatic’ is made entirely from car bits. You can digitize sound from pretty much anything nowadays.

And even though it’s an interesting concept, we doubt anybody is setting this thing as their ringtone anytime soon.
