This month, BMW built the 2 millionth 1-Series model at the Regensburg plant in Germany, more than 10 years after the first 1-Series was produced.
The landmark car was made just a few days after the start of production for the facelifted 1-Series and is one of the first examples of the new BMW 1 Series range that will be exported to Asia. The BMW 120i 5-door, painted in Estoril Blue metallic and equipped with an M Sport package, will be delivered to a customer in Japan.
Scheduled to launch on March 28 in Germany, the facelifted BMW 1-Series range brings a refined exterior design, a more premium ambience inside, more powerful and fuel-efficient engines, as well as new equipment features.
Offered in both 5-door and 3-door body variants, the BMW 1-Series can be ordered with petrol and diesel engines featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, including units with three and four cylinders from the BMW Group’s latest generation of engines and a six-cylinder in-line engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology. Engine output ranges from 109PS to 326PS.
BMW also offers the xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system as an option for the M135i, 118d and 120d.
Other equipment highlights include the standard-fitted iDrive operating system, full-LED headlights (available as an option for the BMW 1-Series for the first time) and the latest additions to the BMW ConnectedDrive line-up.
The BMW 1 Series 3-door is built exclusively in Regensburg, while the BMW 1 Series 5-door is also manufactured at the Leipzig plant.
