Dacia has updated the Duster lineup with a new petrol engine, the 1,198cc TCe 125 unit offered exclusively with all-wheel drive.
The new engine is Euro6-compliant and is fitted with Stop&Start technology and a braking energy recovery system for more fuel efficiency. Dacia says the four-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol offers a similar drive as a 2.0-liter normally aspirated unit, while being more economical.
The engine produces 125PS (123hp) and a maximum torque of 205Nm (151lb-ft) available between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm. Remarkably, 90 percent of the peak torque is available at 1,500 rpm, which no doubt helps the Duster’s off-road capabilities.
The new unit is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission with a short first gear ratio that allows the Duster to maneuver at very low speeds on rough terrain and to start comfortably uphill or when heavily loaded. The Dacia Duster 4WD TCe 125 averages 6.4 l/100 km (36.7 mpg US) and emits 145 g/km of CO2.
Besides the new engine for the Duster, Dacia is also showcasing in Geneva the 10th Anniversary Special Editions offered for all models in the lineup except the Dokker Van. The 10th anniversary limited-edition models are based on the Lauréate trim level and get exclusive styling tweaks as well as the new Dacia Media Nav Evolution multimedia and navigation system.
All models can be ordered in the exclusive Cosmos Blue paint finish, chosen because blue is the color traditionally associated with the Dacia brand.
