Fiat’s 500X small crossover has travelled to the Geneva Motor Show wearing a Black Tie conceptual outfit. This show car model is the work of Garage Italia Customs, Lapo Elkann’s pet latest customization project.
For of those of you who haven’t heard the name before, Lapo Elkann is the grandson of Fiat scion Gianni Agnelli, brother of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Chairman John Elkann, and heir to Italy’s biggest industrial dynasty.
On the outside, the 500X Black Tie gets a “wrap-paint” job said to combine chrome-plated film and traditional paint, set off with “varnished solid wood roof rails and handles” – Fiat’s words, not ours.
Jump inside and you’ll discover seats dressed in a combination of denim and British-style cashmere, an Alcantara-covered dashboard, and door panel inserts in half cashmere and half denim with ice-color stitching. Furthermore, the inner door moulding, central console, dashboard accents and the entire luggage cover panel are made of solid wood.
