Say what? Most ethical car company? Well, to be fair they were named to Ethisphere Institute’s 2015 list of World’s Most Ethical Companies, but are currently the only car maker to earn this distinction…6 years in a row.
If you’re wondering what this award means or what you have to do in order to get it, no worries, we got you covered. It turns out that in order to get your name among the world’s most ethical brands, you need to do business “the right way”.
The Ethisphere Institute will assess a company’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized manner, after which the honor is given based on how you rate in the following 5 categories: Ethics and Compliance, Corporate Citizenship and Responsibility, Culture of Ethics, Governance and Leadership, Innovation and Reputation.
“This award celebrates doing business the right way, and making the right choices every day,” said Ford Motor Company exec, Bill Ford. “Ethics and corporate citizenship are important factors that affect a company’s reputation and success, and we are proud Ford is the only automaker to have received this honor for six consecutive years.”
Also, last year, according to the 2015 Harris Poll Reputation Quotient, 53% of the U.S public chose to learn more about a company before doing business with them. Which pretty logical, since fewer and fewer people are making important decisions anymore based on brand loyalty alone.
At the same time, people are leaning towards not doing business with a certain brand if it acquires a negative reputation nowadays.
