Velocity’s Americarna recently visited the General Motors design studio and walked away with a couple of very interesting shots of what appears to be a futuristic Camaro and a mid-engine Corvette drawing.
First of all, before we get too excited, let’s rest assured that GM would never, ever, in a million years drop the ball like this. Especially when it comes to the design of their next-gen Camaro and Vette. And since the next-gen Camaro is already done, any sort of rendering or drawing would probably point to the model’s 7th installment.
Christine Park, Lead Designer mentioned that she was working on a “Chevy sportscar”, which has way too many Camaro elements for us to ignore.
But perhaps even more fascinating is that yellow futuristic Corvette drawing (we know it’s a Corvette because of the badge). Could it be the much anticipated mid-engine Vette everyone is talking about? A direct Ford GT rival?
Odds are, the drawing doesn’t mean anything definitive. Like we said, GM would never reveal something that big in such a way. Still, it’s nice to know that they employ some very talented designers which picture the Vette as being something even more aggressive than today’s C7.
And of course, if a future mid-engine Vette turns out to look like that or even share some design characteristics with the one in the sketch, we’ll be more than overjoyed.
