You know what they say: fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. It doesn’t take much experience with concepts to see that Honda’s vision of a fuel-cell car is eons cooler than what we’ll get when they launch the production FCV in about a year’s time. I mean, just look at what they did to the “near production” Civic Type R concept

This latest interpretation of Honda’s futuristically styled FCV was originally unveiled in Tokyo in November 2014 and is now making its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

It’s a successor to Honda’s first Hydrogen fuel cell-powered car, the FCX Clarity. One of the focal points is the compact powertrain, as Honda claims that the production FCV will be the first car of its type to package the entire fuel cell system and electric motor within the engine bay.

The car features a 70MPa high-pressure hydrogen tank that can be recharged in as little as three minutes providing a driving range of around 300 miles or about 480 kilometers.

The production FCV (we’re still in the dark about the final name) is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in the first half of 2016, and subsequently in the USA and Europe within the next 12 months.
