Will Jeremy Clarkson soon head a brand-new motoring program on the Netflix streaming service?

That’s the latest rumor following BBC’s official announcement that the former Top Gear presenter’s contract will no longer be renewed for another season.

Yesterday, we reported that the BBC director-general Tony Hall issued an official statement that concludes the investigation involving Jeremy Clarkson’s assault on BBC producer Oisin Tymon. On Jeremy Clarkson’s termination, Hall said the decision made by the broadcasting company’s decision is clear:

“I cannot condone what has happened on this occasion. A member of staff – who is a completely innocent party – took himself to Accident and Emergency after a physical altercation accompanied by sustained and prolonged verbal abuse of an extreme nature. For me a line has been crossed.”

Now that Jeremy Clarkson has been officially removed from Top Gear, a new question arises: what is the fate of the people’s petrol head? According to numerous news outlets including The Independent, the next move for Clarkson could be to Netflix.

“Netflix are reported to be very interested in the presenter, with some reports suggesting that they are prepared to offer the presenter “full control” over anything he creates with the network,” said the Independent.

“This would mean that Clarkson would given ‘free reign’ to front a motoring show on the streaming service.”

Stay tuned as we continue to learn new developments regarding Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear in the weeks ahead.
