Since the new Espace arrives in European dealerships next month, Renault has brought it to the Geneva Motor Show and released some new photos and details, including fuel economy figures.

Thanks to a weight saving of 250kg (551lbs) compared to its predecessor, the adoption of latest generation engines and refined aerodynamics, the Espace is said to be 20 percent more fuel efficient.

The Espace is offered with two engines, a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol unit that produces 200PS and 260Nm (192lb-ft) of torque and a 1.6-liter turbo diesel available in two states of tune: 130PS and 320Nm (236lb-ft) or 160PS and 380Nm (280lb-ft).

Mated to a new 7-speed EDC dual clutch transmission, the petrol engine averages 6.2 l/100 km (37.9 mpg US) and emits 140 g/km of CO2. The 160PS diesel is also offered with the EDC transmission and is rated at 4.7 l/100 km (50 mpg US) and 123 g/km of CO2.

As for the base 130PS diesel, it is only offered with a six-speed manual gearbox, with fuel consumption rated at 4.5 l/100 (52.2 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km.

The Espace will be offered with four equipment levels: Life, Zen, Intens and the luxurious Initiale Paris. The new model will arrive next month in dealerships across 20 European countries, including France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Slovakia, the Baltic States, Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Denmark and Sweden.
