Renault Argentina has announced it will invest $100 million (€92 million) to build the new Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan from mid-2016 at its plant in Santa Isabel.
The investment includes the accommodation of a new vehicle platform in the facility as well as providing the plant with the necessary equipment to build the Logan, Sandero and Sandero Stepway. The new platform will also allow Renault Argentina to build new models in the medium and long terms.
“Argentina is a key location for the Renault group as far as the development of its production strategy and sales growth in the Americas region are concerned. The aim is to maintain this expansion and also reinforce the brand’s footing in the country,” said Thierry Koskas, Renault Argentina CEO.
Renault’s investment will be used in five key areas: the development of a network of local suppliers for the production of parts (seats, bumpers, exhaust and brake systems), the conversion and modernization of the equipment, research and development, staff training and modernization of the paint shop.
Production of the Renault Logan, Sandero and Sandero Stepway is expected to begin by mid-2016, with the vehicles scheduled to go on sale in the last quarter of the same year.
