Looking to downsize and buy a (really) small 4×4 with a lovable exterior and outstanding fuel economy? Suzuki’s iM-4 mini 4×4 concept might be just what you need.
Suzuki says that the theme for this car is “Shape the Inspiration”, which we kind of get, since there are a lot of people who wouldn’t shy away from a small offroader, especially if their situation calls for one.
The iM-4 is a small package yes, but within that package you get reliable performance as well as fuel saving technology, which will blend right into your daily routine. Unless you know, you live in Dubai and your dad just bought you the latest Koenigsegg.
For the rest of us, a 4WD system coupled with a decent amount of ground clearance can do wonders. You can take the iM-4 and drive it in the snow or on unpaved roads with confidence, knowing that thanks to its SHVS mild hybrid system, you’ll get great fuel consumption as well as low CO2 emissions.
And of course, we’re not going to say anything bad about the looks, since it’s design is both innovative and retro at the same time. It makes for an interesting mix, especially with those 18″ wheels. We also like the sunglass-like front grille and the headlamp design, as well as the blacked-out A and B pillars – which aren’t new to the automotive industry by any stretch of the imagination, but they still look good.
The Suzuki iM-4 rides on an all-new platform, just like the iK-2 from earlier, but unlike it’s larger sibling, this small offroader is powered by a 1.2 liter DUALJET engine (plus SHVS).
By the way, if you’re wondering just how small the iM-4 is, think about the fact that at 3,693 mm in length, it’s only 73 mm longer than a Ford Ka.
