A parking ticket is the kind of low quality printed paper that you find under your wiper if you leave your car where it’s not permitted.
However, the Dutch have pushed the concept along, and now it’s done autonomously from inside a specialized vehicle that’s currently being tried out in the southerly small city of Delft with just 100,000 inhabitants.
The vehicle used is the new VW Golf Plus MPV, now just called Sportsvan, with what Autoblog.nl describes as a “doom dome” on its roof; they compare it to the scary all-seeing eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings.
With a system like this in operation there will be no arguing with the parking officer and no fabrication of excuses – its cameras will have your every move recorded and there will be no way out of paying the ticket; the people of Delft must be thrilled!
