Vauxhall was already planning on conquering the hearts of many young drivers with their cute little ADAM model. However, they also know how to target grown ups.
And by that we mean financially and not just as a life style choice. Sure, the ADAM can be a great city car, no matter what age you are, but what about if you’re between the ages of 18 and 20?
Well, Vauxhall is offering ADAM drivers aged 18-20 one year’s insurance for just £99 on JAM, GLAM, SLAM, ROCKS and ROCKS AIR versions. While 21-75 year olds can get free insurance on most ADAM models, this is a great deal for kids under 20 since they can even earn back the one-off £99 payment.
“With young drivers potentially paying upwards of £2,000 for insurance when they are 18, this offer for ADAM drivers is an amazing deal and shows our commitment to lowering the cost of motoring,” said John Hennelly, Vauxhall’s Marketing Programmes Manager.
In order to qualify for the offer, 18-20 year old drivers have to allow insurance provider, ingenie, to install a ‘black box’, monitoring their driving style. This includes speed, acceleration, braking and cornering.
Afterwards, every 10 days or so (depending on mileage), they receive a score from ingenie via a smartphone app. If they drive well, they will be rewarded up to £33 per quarter, which means they can get their money back within 12 months.
This is a great offer for young drivers, and even more so for the parents of young drivers. Especially since parents know they can’t sit next to their kids all the time, while they get the hang of driving. Knowing that their kids have a strong incentive to drive economically and within the limits can be a huge relief.
