VW Passenger cars remained steady as far as deliveries in the month of February, handing over 413,700 vehicles to new owners last month and thus matching their numbers from the previous year.
In total, VW sold 920,700 cars in the first two month of the new year, which is however down by 1.6% compared to what they did in January & February 2014.
VW Group Board Member for Sales Marketing Christian Klingler argued that “The situation on world markets remains tense. Thanks to a convincing model range, the VW Passenger Cars brand was able to maintain deliveries at the high level of the prior year. In particular the new Passat as well as the Golf and Golf Sportsvan models continue to meet with a very positive response from our customers”.
The fact that the all-new Passat is selling well comes as no surprise, as for the Golf, well, it will outlive us all most probably – so again, no surprise there.
In Europe, VW sold no fewer than 246,800 cars in February, with deliveries improving in Germany by 3.8%. Sales decreased in Russia by 40.1% – but that’s a direct result of the ongoing difficult market situation.
As for the Asia-Pacific region, VW recorded a slight 0.5% increase in deliveries from January to February, selling over 475,200 vehicles, of which 441,600 were delivered to China.
Last but not least, both North and South America saw an overall rise in vehicle deliveries in the first two months of the year, however the U.S did register a 2.8% decrease in February, compared to the same month last year.
