At 3:00 PM EST or 7:00 PM GMT, Jaguar will pull a James Bond-style unveiling on the next-gen XF saloon and you can watch it live in the video stream after the break.
Jaguar is making a big deal out of the presentation stating that the 2016 XF will be revealed in a “spectacular fashion in London” through a high-wire drive over water performed with the help of British stuntman Jim Dowdall who has worked in the James Bond and Indiana Jones franchises.
The carmaker said the stunt will “highlight the lightweight and agile credentials of the new XF”.
What we know about the new XF is that it will have a crispier exterior that evolves the well-received design language of the current model with a spiffier interior partially inspired by the XE incorporating all the latest tech features.
It will ride on an elongated version of the XE’s iQ[Al] platform that is made from more than 75 percent aluminum, making it more agile and stiffer, yet also lighter, with weight savings of around 50 to 100kg or 110 to 220 pounds over the outgoing car.
Jaguar’s new Ingenium four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines will be introduced to the range, joining the 3.0-liter diesel and supercharged gasoline V6 units, with a supercharged V8 to power the performance-orientated XFR and XFR-S.
The British firm’s Audi A6 and BMW 5-Series rival will have its public world premiere at the New York Auto Show next week.
*Update 1: We just found two pictures, allegedly showing the 2016 XF, but we’ve yet to confirm this. From this angle, it looks remarkably similar to the current car.
* Update 2: While Jaguar’s live stream doesn’t seem to be working, we now have official photos of the new XF
