The legendary video of Ari Vatanen’s 1988 record-breaking run at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in a Peugeot 405 T16 will forever remain imprinted in racing fans’ minds. Peugeot Sport has no doubt taken inspiration from the “Climb Dance” video when releasing this latest footage called “Etna Volcano’s Climb.”
The title of the video leaves no room for interpretation: this is footage of a rally car climbing Sicily’s Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
Featuring Italy’s eight-time rally champion Paolo Andreucci and the Peugeot 208 T16 (the rally version, not the Pikes Peak special), the video captures some stunning images of the erupting Etna and of the rally car making its way up to the top of the mountain on narrow trails covered with black volcanic soil.
While not as dramatic as Vatanen’s Pikes Peak climb, the video allows us to witness Andreucci’s fantastic car control while going at it full attack. Enjoy!
