Koenigsegg is just such a cool brand whose philosophy to be exceptional and lead the pack is oh-so evident in the cars it churns out. That’s why there would be absolutely no reason for us not to fantasize about them making a four-door-type car.
Apparently, the company is currently considering it and most likely it’d be a hybrid not too mechanically dissimilar to the gearless Regera.
Top Gear managed to get the information directly from Christian von Koenigsegg, on the sidelines of the Geneva auto show.
They also learned that the company isn’t really willing to go downmarket with future offerings, so a smaller and cheaper sports car is out of the question – and we get it, it’d dilute the brand’s exclusivity value.
So we won’t see any kind of Porsche 911 GT3, Ferrari 458/488 or McLaren 650S rivals in the foreseeable future, while the four-door could be here in five years’ time or even earlier, according to the source.
If Koenigsegg does make a four-door, will they keep the dihedral hinges and have them open the other way for rear access? Could this be made to work?
