You can now order your A6 from Audi with a new 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that makes 252 hp. That’s as much as a larger atmospheric V6, but it promises much improved efficiency over one of those. Audi also priced the the 2016 A6 along with the A7 after the two models underwent the usual mid-life cycle refresh.
Audi says the 252 hp unit is the most powerful engine of its kind currently on offer in the segment – it achieves a claimed 26 mpg when powering the A6. For reference, the A7 with its base engine, the 333 hp 3.0 TFSI, achieves a respectable 24 mpg combined.
Both models also get revised front and rear fascias, with “a more dynamic stance and greater presence on the road.” There is, as we’ve come to expect from Audi, and abundance of LEDs all around, both inside and out.
Standard on either car is the latest generation of Audi’s MMI infotainment. Sat-nav is optional, as are several other functions; 3G internet capability is in-built, though.
Several luxury, technology or safety packs are on offer, but, as usual with Audi an all premium Germans, nothing is standard and the price can increase by 50% percent with the options you really want.
In base trim, Audi will have you pay $46,200 for an A6 with the two-liter, while the base A7 will set you back at least $68,300. Check out the full pricing and spec information below.
