Alongside the BJ80C Mercedes-Benz G-Class clone, Beijing Auto (BAIC) also unveiled the BJ20 Concept at the Shanghai Auto Show.
The BJ20 study is said to preview a compact production SUV that will be positioned below the current BJ40. The vehicle definitely has an eclectic design, as we can spot design cues from brands like Jeep and Toyota (FJ Cruiser). However, designers managed to give the BJ40 a personality of its own, unlike the BJ80C.
The design of the production model previewed by this concept will probably be toned down a little, but the vehicle will have about the same size.
BAIC’s compact SUV is expected to arrive on the Chinese market in late 2016. Engine options will include a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine and a turbocharged version. Prices will reportedly start from around 80,000 yuan (approximately $12,900).
