Citroen may have brought the most impressive vehicle at Shanghai in the form of the new Aircross SUV concept.
The Aircross Concept previews a Qashqai-rivalling compact SUV that uses the same design elements we first saw in the C4 Cactus. Despite Citroen saying that the Aircross is just a concept for now, the Aircross is built on the flexible EMP2 platform which underpins cars like the Peugeot 308 and the aforementioned Cactus.
Underneath the funky bodywork lives a plug-in petrol-electric powertrain, pairing a turbocharged 218hp 1.6-litre petrol unit with a 95hp electric motor, each of them driving the front and rear axle respectively, making the Aircross Concept effectively 4WD.
Citroen claims that the Aircross is previewing their next global model, emphasizing on the growing SUV trend, especially in Asia. The French manufacturer is currently toying with the idea of developing a family of crossovers but no decisions have been made so far.
