There’s no question that riding a bicycle on a highway is a very risky activity, regardless of what the law allows or dictates.
This past Saturday on April 11, 2015, a large tanker truck sideswiped a cyclist on a Russian highway, with the rider making it out alive in spite of several injuries.
According to the YouTube author, “The man was injured but is in stable condition after being helicoptered to the hospital. Law enforcement officials are investigating the incident.”
The accident was caught on camera by one of the victim’s co-riders who were following on from behind, before he crashed into his friend’s bike.
We’re not aware of what laws apply in Russia and whether cyclists are allowed on highways, but the video shows the rider lifting his arm are to indicate that he was moving to the right, just before the truck came speeding through on his right hand side stepping on the white lines.
We should note that there were two more cyclists coming on from behind as well as a car driving on the left lane.
