Alfa Romeo’s iconic badge has been placed on some of the prettiest vehicles ever made, such as this 1966 Giulia Sprint Speciale or SS we found on eBay.
Inspired by Carrozzeria Bertone’s Berlina Aerodinamica Tecnica, or ‘B.A.T.’ show cars that were conceived in the mid-1950s, the Giulia SS was penned by the great Italian automotive designer Franco Scaglione while he was working at the Bertone studio.
And unlike many other cars from that era, especially on this side of the Atlantic, the Giulia SS not only looked aerodynamic, it actually was with a record 0.28 coefficient of drag that was not surpassed for more than two decades!
Alfa offered the 4,120mm (162.2 in.) coupe from 1959 through 1966 with two engines, initially a 1.3-liter four pot and from 1963, a 1.6-liter twin-cam unit believed to produce around 120hp (there are conflicting reports on the precise output), paired to a five-speed manual.
This car is featured in a lovely Azurro Blue with a striking Cognac interior and seems to be in a good condition for a vehicle its age.
Moreover, the seller states that it comes with a wealth of spare parts that will be handed over to the new owner.
“A beautifully preserved example with boxes and boxes of original parts included in the sale,” reads the eBay ad. “The previous owner of this car meticulous maintained a collection of extra parts and parts which were removed from the car so that the new owner will have a wonderful provenance and history in hand (or garage).”
With about a day or so left for the auction to end, the highest bid stands at $75,700 without having met the seller’s reserve.
