Hyundai is desperately trying to get its new Genesis sedan noticed and the way it’s being promoted is rather clever. If you want people to see your car as being forward-thinking, modern and exclusive, what better way to do it than to associate its image with space and space stations.
The Korean automaker used eleven Genesis sedans to write a message on sand that would be visible from space. It was a little girl’s message to her astronaut dad who’s doing research on the International Space Station (ISS) and is also a photo buff.
What they did was take the cars to a flat bit of sand that’s big enough to support a message viewable from space, then they fitted the cars with special tires that dig more into the ground and they were sent to leave tracks.
We won’t spoil it for you, but before you ask, yes, this is an actual thing that happened and yes the message was visible from space, as attested by the Guinness record people.
