Kia is said to be preparing a stab at the Maserati Ghibli, and other similarly-sized luxo sedans, a car that will basically be a production version of the GT concept. Along with it, it’s also mulling a series variant of the GT4 Stinger concept, although that seems further away from the showroom than the four-door.
According to Australia’s Drive, which quotes Orth Hendrick, Kia America’s head of product planning, “They’re under development. The Stinger we have some more work to do as far as bringing that to market. The market for a coupe is not strong for the length of time needed to get a return on your investment. So for GT we are actively working on that car.”
When asked if or when they were going to go official with the news, Hendrick said an announcement will be made “soon.”
As for which markets it’s going to be aimed at, well, America will probably be key, but it will most likely be a global (image boosting/halo) car.
