Here’s another SUV from the Shanghai Auto Show, this time from Chongqing-based independent automaker Lifan Group.
Before you start criticizing the Lifan X70’s looks, you should know that this is an automaker that has only begun building cars ten years ago. The X70 previews a production SUV that will slot in between the X60 and X80 in Lifan’s lineup.
Expected in the first half of 2016, the production model will be offered with 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engines, as well as a permanent all-wheel drive system. These are all the technical details known so far.
The mid-sized SUV is estimated to have a starting price of 140,000 yuan (about $22,575). Lifan has plans to invest in electric cars and expand its sales network in China which includes 80 flagship stores, 300 exclusive dealers and 1,000 dealers that sell vehicles from both Lifan and other carmakers.
