Porsche is having no trouble selling the Macan in the US, even if it’s considerably smaller but not that much cheaper than the Cayenne. In fact, there are now long waiting lists and the manufacturer is having to supplement numbers in order to cope with demand.
Detlev von Platen, the CEO of Porsche NA, said “we do not want to continue to have a situation where we have a waiting list of five to six months. This is the reason we have decided to jump on the allocation for the United States and increase this for this year.”
He didn’t give a number but it was apparently confirmed to be a “substantial” number.
According to Automotive News, von Platen previously stated that the US was capable of handling 18,000 Macan sales per year, which would be nearly double what is allocated now; in the 11 months since it’s been available, 9,841 have been sold.
