Here’s the power-crazed version of Mercedes-Benz’s upcoming C-Class Coupe with the C63 AMG designation.
We already know that it will get the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 mill found in its C-Class sedan and Estate siblings as well as the GT sports coupe, pushing out 470hp (476PS), uprated to 503hp (510PS) when you opt for the “S” model, and possibly even more than that if Merc follows up with a Black Series edition.
By comparison, its domestic rival, the new BMW M4, gets a twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six with 425hp (431PS), while across the pond, the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe’s twin-turbo V6 makes do with 464hp (470PS).
An AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sport transmission with paddle shifters will send power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential to keep things in check.
Compared to the regular 2016 C-Class Coupe prototypes we’ve seen so far, the C63 AMG tester has a more aggressive stance and details. These include larger intakes on the modified front bumper, bloated wheel-arches to fit the bigger wheels through which we see the beefed-up braking system, new hood and rocker panels, and a vented rear bumper with a quad pipe layout.
