The European market version of Mercedes’ C-Class is welcoming five new additions to the range this week.
These include a new entry-level model named the C160 with a German list price of €31,683.75, or €2,000 less than the C 180 Saloon, which until now, was the most affordable C-Class.
The C160 draws power from a 129PS (127hp) and 210Nm 1.6-liter turbocharged four petrol that allows the sedan to hit 100km/h (62mph) in 9.6 sec and the Estate in 9.9 sec, with the manual gearbox model returning 5.2l/100km (5.4l/100 for the Estate) and 120g/km of CO2 (125g/km – Estate).
Further up the range, the C200 petrol and C220d diesel are now available with Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC four-wheel drive system.
Much like BMW these days, Mercedes’ numbering system doesn’t make much sense, so don’t try to find reason in the new C300, which has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline mill rated for 245PS or 242hp. It accelerates the sedan from a standing start to 100 km/h (62mph) in 5.9 seconds (6.1 seconds for the Estate), while returning a combined fuel consumption of 6.3l/100km (6.4l for the station wagon).
If you want a V6, your wish has been granted with the new C450 AMG 4MATIC that sports a 3.0-liter twin-turbo petrol unit delivering 367PS (362hp) and 520Nm of peak torque for a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint in 4.9 seconds (Estate: 5.0 sec) and a combined fuel consumption of 7.6l/100km (Estate: 7.7l/100km).
Also joining the range this week in Germany are the new Mercedes-AMG C63 with 476PS and C63 S with 510PS high-performance models.
