It’s not like we forgot about the CLS, but with so much going on in the automotive industry, it pays to be reminded of a few great models from time to time.
As far as presentations go, Mercedes USA did a good job with this one. We even enjoyed the narration and didn’t mind that the clip was over 3 minutes long.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS is a beautiful car, and more than capable to whoop your behind in a straight line if you challenge it in its CLS 63 AMG form.
In the U.S, you can buy one for $65,990 – which would be the entry-level CLS400 version, but still capable performance-wise thanks to its 329 HP biturbo V6 unit. For a little more grunt, go for the CLS550, which packs a 4.7 liter biturbo V8 engine, good for 402 HP and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque.
The only thing better than that would be the top of the line CLS63 AMG S-Model 4MATIC Coupe, which is quite a mouthful, but then again words don’t come easy when you’re accelerating in a 577 HP V8 monster, capable of hitting 62 mph (100km/h) in just 3.6 seconds.
However, the video brochure isn’t as much about performance as it is about technology and safety features. This is yet another chapter where the CLS does really, really well.
From the 9-speed automatic gearbox to the Multibeam LED headlights, Collision Prevention Assist, Distronic Plus system or the Active Blind Spot Assist, the facelifted CLS has plenty of gadgets that are going to keep you not just safe, but also comfortable.
