It’s funny how Porsche proudly presents 350 km/h or 218 mph as a milestone speed for a supercar. It could be called slow by the fastest of super- and hypercar standards (and 1990s McLaren F1 standards), yet the 918 Spyder video promo you see below makes a big fuss out of it.
At leas they avoided the cliché of doing the run at the Bonneville salt flats and went on to choose a straight bit of road in the Australian Outback desert as a more unique backdrop.
The video also suffers from too much cutting and editing – if Porsche thinks just having the engine sound in the background and then playing random fly-by shots of the car on top can cut it, then it is far off the mark; at least the actual run up to the top speed is one uninterrupted piece.
