So far, Mercedes-Benz has launched the sedan and estate iterations of their new-gen C-Class, but the range will soon welcome the Coupe and Convertible models.
We caught the former playing around on a frozen lake in Northern Sweden with our spies telling us that this prototype was likely fitted with Merc’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system that will be on offer.
The Coupe’s powertrain line-up will be carried over from the four-door C-Class with four-cylinder turbocharged diesel and petrol units for the base and mid-level models, a 362hp turbocharged V6 petrol for the C450 AMG and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 for the high-po C63 AMG (470hp / 476PS) and C63 AMG S (503hp / 510PS) cars. Benz may also throw a BlueTEC hybrid powertrain into the mix.
A rival to BMW‘s 4-Series and Audi’s A5 Coupe, the two-door Mercedes model will have a familiar front end to the rest of the C-Class range, but the rest of the body will be different, boasting a sportier design, including an arched roofline with a steeply raked rear windshield and a stubbier tale with elongated tail lamps.
The interior, on the other hand, will keep the same dashboard and switchgear throughout adding individual seating for two at the rear.
The new C-Class Coupe will break cover at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
