Or at least one of many sets of alloy wheels and brakes that will be available on the sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro that will be officially introduced on Saturday, May 16, at a special public event at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.
GM continues to point out that the 2016 Camaro will be a much lighter and agile sports car than the current fifth-gen model, with today’s release focusing on the use of lightweight components.
“The structure of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is 28 percent stiffer and the overall weight is least 200 pounds [+91 kg] lighter than its predecessor,” said GM in a statement. “As a result, the team was able to scale the size and mass of components such as the wheels and tires to reduce un-sprung weight, further improving responsiveness and control.”
As a reminder, the Camaro Mk6 is built on a modified version of GM’s newer Alpha rear-drive architecture that’s shared with the new Cadillac ATS and CTS models.
