BMW is having a hard time keeping its upcoming 7-Series under wraps, as after some revealing (general) interior and exterior shots, the sedan’s instrument panel has been revealed through an Instagram post.
The next generation 7er’s instrument cluster combines traditional gauges with a digital display. It’s a strange hybrid setup as the wide center screen takes up about a third of the circular speedometer and tachometer replacing the analog readings from 210km/h and up and under 1,500 rpm respectively with digital numbers.
Even though the instrument panel will include readings from the new iDrive system previewed at this year’s CES, the new 7, codenamed G11 (regular wheelbase) and G12 (LWB), will continue to have a standalone (touchscreen, this time) display positioned on top of the center console.
The 2016 BMW 7-Series will be introduced later this summer, with a possible world premiere at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
