The mighty Ariel Atom is a proven track weapon that delivers one of the most exciting driving experiences, full stop. Although an Ariel Atom would thrive in an environment like Tsukuba circuit, we highly advise against pulling up to a drag race in the tiny little toy on four wheels.
However, that is exactly what an Ariel Atom owner did in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. Although the location may sound random, it was chosen because it is the only FAA-certified airport runway on ice in the United States. Finally, rather than a Mustang Cobra Jet, the 230 hp Ariel Atom will be drag racing on ice against a purpose-built 160 hp Polaris 800 Rush Pro-S.
Surprisingly, the Ariel Atom has a power advantage and a weight and grip disadvantage for a change. To claw back from the handicap, the Ariel Atom is fitted with specialized studded tires designed for grip on ice.
Place your bets. Which vehicle do you think will make it to the finish line first? Watch the drag race on ice between the Ariel Atom and Polaris 800 Rush Pro-S in the video below!
