We live in a world where BMW has two MPVs in its lineup (both front-wheel drive for that matter) and Volvo has none.
Despite its reputation of building great and safe family cars, the Swedish carmaker has missed the golden era of MPVs, so building one now when SUVs have won over almost all minivan buyers is highly unlikely.
Still, if Volvo were to decide they need an MPV, they could follow in the footsteps of Renault and its all-new Espace, which combines the practicality and versatility of a minivan with crossover design cues. That’s what Photoshop artist Theophilus Chin had in mind when he created these renderings showing what a Volvo MPV would look like.
Starting from photos of the VW Sharan, he applied styling cues from the all-new XC90 SUV in order to make the MPV look like a Volvo. The result looks quite interesting, don’t you think?
