While Volkswagen has offered hot versions of its Transporter commercial vehicle in the past, these were never badged higher than “Sport.” However, now that the new one is out, somebody was bound to want to make it a GTI, and that someone is X-Tomi.
Now it may be a bit weird to see a GTI badge and the red stripe on a van, but VW’s T offerings have been growing rather talented over the years. You can really spec these up now, although mostly with luxury and tech goodies, and not so much performance-enhancing ones.
Even so, it looks pretty good, and if VW made something similar it would definitely set many people’s imagination alight with further modding possibilities, at least that’s what I got from it. Out-accelerating a sports car in a beefed up Transporter would probably be twice as shocking as a Golf going as fast…
