The Porsche 930 is probably the easiest to recognize of all 911 generations, especially the Turbo version.
Harry Metcalfe owns a 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo and shares some really interesting facts about this iconic model. Porsche had to make many changes to the standard 911 to turn it into a Turbo version, and as always, Metcalfe walks us through the essential stuff, without skipping the colorful details.
For example, did you know that the 930 Turbo’s brakes were sourced from the legendary 917 race car and have aluminum calipers and ventilated discs?
Being a late model, Metcalfe’s car features the G50 five-speed manual gearbox, which he says is better than the previous version. The performance of the 930 Turbo is still relevant, even by modern standards. It does 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5 seconds flat and reaches a top speed of 160 mph (257 km/h).
I’m sure you’re dying to find out what this thing is like to drive, so I’ll leave you with the video.
