It’s official; a new Need For Speed installment is coming our way and by the looks of it, the Underground mentality is carried over from the past.

We can’t say for certain if it will be called Underground 3 or something else, but the action happening at night, after a rainfall, does takes us back to the good ol’ days of “undergrounding”.

On the official site, EA states that the game will be a reboot of the series – a start from scratch. Of course, Underground and Underground 2 were arguably the best games of the franchise and if the developers will decide to use the iconic moniker, then this new game has its work cut out for it.

The fast moving action in the teaser prevents us to get a good look, but the video description states that the game is “an action driving experience that unites the culture of speed”. That being said, it does seem to carry some sort of Japanese street culture with it. Apart from the white Mustang, all the cars in the trailer have a touch of JDM: Pink 180SX, a RWB green 964, a KPGC-10 GT-R Skyline and a FR-S, or GT86 (your call).

Furthermore, the description also states that “The new NFS game will feature deep customisation, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game.” So there you go, isn’t that the perfect recipe for a proper Need for Speed?

In addition to that, we can clearly see the Speedhunters logo on the Porsche’s rear wheel, which means the game will surely carry an authentic car-culture experience. The last time we saw the Speedhunters logo was in Shift 2, which was abundant in car customization and motoring- enlightenment, but all the action was done legally, on the track. The presence of the police in the trailer states that the new game will be a little more fun than rolling around a circuit…
